The hospital cafeteria is located on the basement level and is available to all visitors Monday through Friday for lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m. (except holidays). Free coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the cafeteria.Guest trays for lunch and dinner are available for a small fee. Lunch tray reservations are accepted until 10 a.m. and dinner tray reservations are accepted until 4 p.m. Please contact the dietary department at extension 4008 to make reservations.Vending machines and a microwave may also be found on the basement level.
Kindred Hospital Pittsburgh provides complimentary local telephone and television services.
Free visitor parking is provided in designated areas of the hospital lot. Spaces for handicapped parking also are available. While we strive to keep all areas of the hospital secure, we are not responsible for vehicle damage, fire or theft while parked in the hospital lot.
At least one Security Guard is onsite 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to safeguard patients, their families, visitors to the facility and hospital employees. The Director of Plant Operations functions as the Security Officer during normal working hours, Monday through Friday. All hospital staff participate in the Hospital Security Plan. After 10:00 p.m. all doors are secured. A telephone, located outside the front of the hospital, is available for individuals to request entry after hours.
Family members may meet with clinical staff at biweekly patient conferences, arranged to discuss a loved one’s current condition and progress and to answer questions. You will be notified of the date and time of your loved one’s conference by the discharge planner during the admission interview.
Our Patient Ambassador oversees patient satisfaction, visits all new patients within 7 days of admission and notifies patients and families of the services offered to them. Patients and families are asked to address any questions, issues or concerns with the Patient Ambassador who will intervene and coordinate follow-up and resolution. The Patient Ambassador also holds patient and family receptions approximately every other week.
When your doctor determines you no longer need the specialized services of our hospital but still require medical care, he or she may discharge you to a skilled nursing facility, a rehabilitation center or to home care. Our discharge planner will help arrange for the services you may need after leaving the hospital.Medicare and supplemental insurance policies have limited coverage for skilled nursing care and home healthcare. Check your policies to be certain what services will be covered.
